Corrections Policy

Panhandle Weekly welcomes specific, good-faith challenges to our reporting. Accuracy is a continuing obligation, not something that ends when an article is published.

How to request a correction

Use the newsroom contact form and include:

• The headline or URL of the article.
• The exact passage you believe is inaccurate or incomplete.
• The correct information and how you know it.
• Links or copies of supporting records, when available.
• A way to reach you if clarification is needed.

What happens next

We review the request against our notes, source material, public records, and any new evidence. We may contact the person requesting the correction, the reporter, or other relevant sources. We do not remove accurate reporting simply because it is unfavorable, and we do not promise a particular outcome before reviewing the facts.

How changes are disclosed

• Correction: A material factual error is fixed and a note explains what was wrong and what changed.
• Clarification: The original language was accurate but incomplete or unclear; a note explains the added context.
• Update: New reporting advances a developing story; a note may identify substantial additions.
• Routine edit: Typos, grammar, broken links, and formatting may be fixed without a note when meaning does not change.
• Editor’s note: A longer explanation may be added when an issue is unusually complex or affects the overall framing of the story.

Removal and unpublishing

Complete removal is rare. We may consider it when publication creates an extraordinary safety risk, violates law, identifies a protected victim, relies on material that is shown to be fabricated, or presents another exceptional circumstance that cannot be resolved through correction or redaction. Search-result discomfort, reputational concern, or the passage of time alone generally is not sufficient.
